Ingredients

  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles discard seasoning packets
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil divided
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce optional, for depth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water for thickening
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sesame seeds chopped green onions, red pepper flakes for garnish

Method

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook ramen noodles for about 2 minutes, just until they begin to soften. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce (if using), brown sugar, sesame oil, and the cornstarch slurry. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add sliced beef in a single layer and sear until browned and just cooked through. Season with salt and pepper. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil and toss in the broccoli. Stir fry for 3–4 minutes until bright green and just tender. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  5. Return the beef to the pan along with the cooked ramen noodles. Pour the sauce over everything and toss well to combine. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until everything is hot and the sauce thickens and coats the noodles.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, or red pepper flakes. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat: Microwave or reheat in a skillet with a splash of water to loosen the sauce.
  • Freezing: Not recommended as ramen noodles can become mushy when thawed.
