Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp dried sage
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional for heat
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup optional for a hint of sweetness
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork with all the seasonings and maple syrup (if using). Mix well until fully incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into small, round patties about ½-inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/71°C).
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Serve them with eggs, toast, or in a breakfast sandwich!
