Ingredients

  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts 🍗
  • 2 hoagie rolls 🥖
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 bell pepper sliced (red, green, or a mix) 🌶️
  • 1 small onion sliced 🧅
  • 2 cloves garlic minced 🧄
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices provolone cheese 🧀
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp butter optional for extra flavor

Method

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside to rest before slicing it thinly.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are soft and caramelized. Add the Worcestershire sauce and cook for an additional minute, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  3. Slice the hoagie rolls and toast them lightly in a toaster or on a griddle. Layer the sliced chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of each roll.
  4. Place the sandwich halves under the broiler for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Refrigeration: Store leftover chicken and sautéed vegetables in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Reheating: Reheat the sandwich components separately in the microwave or on a skillet.
