Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices of thick bread brioche or challah works best
  • 2 large eggs
  • Β½ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Β½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp butter for frying
  • Maple syrup fresh fruit, or powdered sugar (for serving)

Method
 

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds on each side. Ensure it’s coated but not overly soggy.
  3. Heat butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove from heat and serve immediately with maple syrup, fresh berries, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Refrigeration: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Reheating: Warm in a toaster or oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for a crispy texture.
  • Freezing: Freeze cooked French toast slices for up to 2 months. Reheat in a toaster or oven.
