Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil or vegetable oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger or ½ tsp ground ginger
  • cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce optional, but adds richness
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce optional, for mild sweetness
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar or lime juice for brightness
  • Cooked white rice or noodles for serving
  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed, and set aside.
  2. Add a splash of water to the skillet and toss in the broccoli florets. Cover and steam for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove lid and cook off any excess water.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, water, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar.
  4. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour in the sauce and stir to coat everything evenly. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the meat and broccoli.
  5. Serve hot over rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
