Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cooked chicken or ground beef optional
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup bread crumbs or crushed crackers for topping

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cooked rice, shredded cheese, cooked chicken or beef, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and seasonings. Stir well to ensure everything is evenly mixed.
  3. Pour the rice mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle bread crumbs or crushed crackers on top for a crispy, golden crust.
  4. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, and the top is golden brown. For extra crispiness, broil for 2 minutes at the end.
  5. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair it with Old-Fashioned Goulash for a hearty meal!
