Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ small onion finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or taco seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or cheddar
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or French bread dough
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until soft, about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in Italian or taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly. Mix in shredded cheese.
  4. Unroll the dough onto the prepared baking sheet and gently flatten it into a rectangle.
  5. Spread the beef and cheese mixture down the center of the dough, leaving space on the edges for folding.
  6. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling and pinch the seams to seal. Place seam-side down. Brush the top with egg wash for shine, if desired.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice into portions and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or spicy ketchup.
